stainless-steel-care

Stainless Steel

Stainless steel cookware is durable, resistant to rust and scratching, easy to care for, resist sticking and does not react with alkaline and acidic foods. It is a very versatile material that is perfect for sautéing, searing, braising and cooking liquids. Most stainless steel cookware is reinforced with an aluminium or copper core to help distribute heat evenly and prevent hot-spots.

Stainless Steel Care Instructions

Care

Stainless steel cookware is safe for use in the dishwasher, however hand washing is strongly recommended to preserve the appearance and prolong the life of your pans.
For best results when cleaning, scrape the interior clean using a wood or plastic scraper. Once cooled, immerse cookware in hot soapy water (do not soak), scrub clean then dry by hand. A good quality stainless steel cleaner may be used on stainless steel items to preserve hygienic finish.

Important

Do NOT use harsh abrasives which will scratch the surface or a detergent that is based on citric acids or contains chlorine bleach. Such products can damage the cookware and can lead to corrosive reactions.

Stovetop/Oven Suitability

Stainless steel cookware is suitable for use on gas, electric, hot plate, ceramic, and halogen stove tops. Some stainless steel cookware is also suitable for use on induction stove tops – to find out if your cookware is suitable for induction stove tops, please refer to your cookware packaging/care sheet or contact us for further details.
(Not all stainless steel ranges of cookware are safe for the oven. Suitability for the oven will depend on the lid and handles of each individual piece. To find out if your cookware is suitable for the oven, please refer to your cookware packaging/care sheet or contact us for further details.)

aluminium-cookware-care

Aluminium Cookware

Aluminium transmits heat evenly and reacts quickly to changes in temperature, allowing the cook more control over what they are cooking. Raw aluminium is a very reactive material - to be able to use it as cookware it must be anodised (a chemical process which hardens the metal and makes it non-reactive) or coated with a non-stick compound.

non-stick-coating-care

Non-Stick Coatings

A non-stick pan can be constructed out of the same materials as other types of cookware -such as stainless steel, aluminium and copper with the main difference being that the cooking surface is coated with a non-stick compound. The compound covers the metal on the inside of the pan, making it non-stick, non-reactive and easy to clean. Although non-stick pans are not suitable for all types of cooking, they are perfect for cooking delicate foods that easily stick such as fish, pancakes and eggs.
